Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities: Farmers Market, River Rec Study and Trail Clean-ups

Summer is officially here and that means we have some fun volunteer opportunities available! Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, work on a meaningful project, be outside, and to meet new people.

If you are looking for ways to spend your long summer days, check out some of these cool options, and reach out to us with questions and how to get signed up!

  • River Recreation Survey: We will be partnering with the Upper Yellowstone Watershed Group for another year of the river recreation use survey this summer. Help with sweep surveys, data collection and outreach is always needed. (You’ll need reliable transportation for this one.)

  • Farmers Market: Every Wednesday of the summer PCEC is at the farmers market managing the composting and recycling waste station. It’s a great way to interact with our community and pass on the knowledge and importance of separating waste and compost. Every volunteer gets a voucher for a free meal from one of the vendors for your efforts courtesy of Western Sustainability Exchange.

  • Trail Clean Ups: We host several annual trail stewardship opportunities on the weekends and in partnership with nonprofits, clubs and the USFS. Trail stewardship is a great way to care for the places we walk, hike, roll and ride bikes. Carpool options and most days start around 8-9am. Our favorite is the Porcupine-Ibex bike/hike-through, key swap and BBQ in September!

    • July 8th community houndstongue weed pull up Livingston Peak (lunch provided by Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness Foundation if you RSVP);

    • July 16th PCEC Green Initiative Interns 89-South Bike Path trash clean up to honor our city adopt a trail agreement (refreshments provided);

    • July 28th North Dry Creek trailhead improvements and thistle removal with Livingston Bike Club and the USFS (food and drink supplied);

    • August 26th Meyer’s Bench Loop trail touch up with Livingston Bike Club (rescheduled from national trails day rainout); and

    • September 23rd Porcupine/Ibex lowline trail corridor clearing bike/hike key swap ride-thru with Livingston Bike Club and USFS (bring and share end of season BBQ at Porcupine Cabin follows the work day)
