Can you help tomorrow?: Volunteers Needed for Sandbags
Warming temperatures may result in overland flooding and along small streams early next week, so NOW is the time to prepare.
Tomorrow, in partnership with Park County Emergency Management, we are recruiting volunteers to help with a community sandbag filling operation at the Fairgrounds, 10am-2pm.
Are you available to sign up for 30mins - 1hour for the following activities!
1) empty sandbag distribution - no heavy lifting required!
2) sandbag moving and loading
3) sandbag filling and tying - no heavy lifting required!
Bring a shovel, gloves, and water if you can!
You can also call me directly to get folks signed up or if you have any questions. 406-220-1668
Lastly, if you (or a neighbor) live along a stream, you can clear ice and debris from culverts and other flow paths to allow runoff to flow away from buildings and other vulnerable infrastructure. Check the functionality of sump pumps prior to the start of runoff to ensure proper operation and prevent basement flooding due to high groundwater levels. Move equipment, forage, and livestock out of poorly drained or low-lying areas.
