TONIGHT: Weigh in on what you want out of a new Yellowstone Gateway Museum!

I'm writing to let you know about a really exciting opportunity to give feedback on what you would like in a new Yellowstone Gateway Museum.

They're holding a public meeting tonight at the Park County Fairgrounds at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to educate the public about the process and host a listening session.

The Yellowstone Gateway Museum is looking at building a new museum with a greater community representation of our layered authentic history.

This is a really good opportunity for people to discuss what’s unique about Park County, thematic elements, access, and amenities.

I’m dreaming of a place we can walk and bike to, that is inclusive of all human and non-human complex histories and that makes everyone connected to this place feel like they belong.

What do you think?

Some of the questions they're asking include:

  • What one idea or message should a visitor take away after going through the new exhibits?

  • What essential experiences should visitors encounter at the Yellowstone Gateway Museum campus?

  • What interpretive aspects should we consider moving to the new museum?

  • What could be improved in the current exhibits?

  • What is your favorite part of the current exhibits (area, artifact, stories, etc.)? What do you like about that element?

  • Is there a specific aspect of the current museum that you do not like?

  • What objects are “must haves” at the Yellowstone Gateway Museum?

What an exciting opportunity for a new built museum! Something like this doesn’t come along very often in rural communities like ours.
