Thanks for Give A Hoot, and an update on Livingston's railroad crossing
Thanks to everyone who gave to PCEC during Give A Hoot. We had 158 unique donations, valued at more than $48,000. This outpouring of support means so much to us, as we continue to do the critical work required to support this place.
Our work wouldn’t happen without all of you. We are grateful for the unwavering commitment and passion our members feel for this amazing spot we call home. And our gratitude is particularly strong right now given the challenges we’ve all faced this past year.
And we look forward to the challenges ahead. While the personal health of all of us needs to be first priority, we can’t neglect the overall health of our community— our future, our economy, our people. The update of the Livingston Growth Policy is one way we can best prepare ourselves for inevitable growth and change. A draft plan should be out before the end of the month and we look forward to working on that draft with your help. We'll continue to keep you posted about how and when to participate.
We are encouraged by the amount of interest in Livingston’s future. Many of you have participated in the growth policy process in one way or another. This past Tuesday, nearly 50 members of the public attended the Livingston City Commission’s virtual meeting, where it was decided to hold off on the $15 million railroad crossing ballot resolution until the growth policy is completed. Commissioners said the growth policy needs to be finalized before they move forward with a crossing decision, or make other consequential decisions like property acquisitions.
We agree with the commissioners’ decision. An updated growth policy will provide an important road map for future decisions and the process is designed to rely on public input in prioritizing future goals and objectives. This is your chance to help plan for the future of Livingston.
Thank you for all your work to engage, converse and make your voice heard.
Stay healthy and please stay in touch.
